Marcia Mae Feilmeier, age 82, of Glidden, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames surrounded by her family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden. Fr. Patrick Behm will be the Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Payton Rath. Music for the Mass will be by the St. Elizabeth Seton Choir with Mary Ross as organist and Michael Bolton as soloist. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden at a later date.
Visitation will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church from 12:30 – 1:45 P.M. prior to the Mass on Saturday.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com
Marcia was born on October 13, 1943 in Iowa City, IA. She was the daughter of Merlin and Emma (Seidl) Nair. She grew up in Dedham and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1961. She worked at the Carroll Egg Plant for two years. She was married to Leonard Feilmeier on April 27, 1963 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The couple lived in Carroll for a few years before moving to Glidden in 1967. Marcia was a stay at home mom until 1976 when she began cooking at the Glidden – Ralston School and eventually became head cook retiring in 2004. She was a hard worker and did contract detasseling for the Garst Company in the summers along with her children. Marcia played guitar in a band in her younger years and also sang in church. She enjoyed cross-stitching, traveling, watching General Hospital, and attending all activities her grandchildren were involved in.
Marcia is survived by her three children and their families: Barb Rath (Mike) of Glidden, Lenny Feilmeier of Glidden, and Jim Feilmeier (Kathy) of Glidden; eight grandchildren: Krysten Bernholtz (Michael), Jake Rath (Payton), Jenny Ferguson (Zach), Alex Feilmeier (Ashley), Alicia Patrick (Addison), Maddie Caldwell (Austin), Danny Feilmeier, and Noah Feilmeier; thirteen great-grandchildren: A.J., Waylon, Lennie, Atticus, Aiden, August, Ryker, Brysen, Paxtyn, Drayke, Avery, Jaylyn, and Glen; a sister Ruth Jensen of Otto, MO; two sisters-in-law: Joann Nair of Des Moines and Irene Feilmeier of Westside; a great-aunt Mary Meyer of Carroll; and several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
Marcia was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 2016; her parents Merlin and Emma Nair; her in-laws Wendelin and Clara Feilmeier; a brother Bob Nair; a sister Mary Heman (Henry “Pee Wee”); Leonard’s siblings: Rita Dentlinger (Jim), Marie Lammers (Ed), Laura Muhlbauer (Tony), Rudy Feilmeier, Al Feilmeier, Earl Feilmeier (Janice), Wendelin “Junior” Feilmeier (Margie), and Bernie Feilmeier; a daughter-in-law Lisa Feilmeier 2024; twin boys in infancy Danny and Donny; a son Dale in infancy; and sister Mary Ann in infancy.
