Magdalene M. Lappe

       Magdalene M. Lappe, age 92, formerly of Carroll Iowa passed away on Friday February 9th 2018 at Valley View Village Assisting Living in Des Moines Iowa.      Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant.  Music for the Mass will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir.  Lector for the Mass will be Sandy White.  Gift Bearers will be Ashton and Alexa Lappe.  Casket bearers will be Franco Gutierrez, Ashton Lappe, Austin Lappe, Sheila Lappe, Sandy White, and Larry Lappe.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.       Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Church for one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com      Born on July 22, 1925 on her family’s farm near Carroll, she was the daughter of Arnold and Elizabeth (Pietig) Lappe.  She worked for The Federal Government in Washington DC for almost 40 years.  Magdalene was a member of Saint Thomas More Catholic Cathedral in Arlington Virginia for many years before moving back to Iowa in the Fall of 2015.  She enjoyed caring for her dogs and spending time with her neighbors and family.      Surviving is a sister Darlene Fitzhonts of Waukegan, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Art, Harold, and Gerald Lappe.
