Lynn Marie “Tootie” Carstens, age 59, of Carroll passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines due to complications from influenza. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Rick Hamilton of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden officiating. Casket bearers will be Troy Lohmann, Ben Lohmann, Denny Gravitt, Mark Olberding, Josh Carstens, and Cade Carstens. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday evening and will resume at 9:30 A.M. on Friday until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the funeral home for a later designation in Lynn’s memory. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on July 2, 1956 in Jefferson, IA, she was the daughter of Roy and Maudie “Mert” (Smith) Jahde. Lynn grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1974. She was married to the love of her life Dean Carstens on March 31, 1984. One son, Jeremy was born to this union. Lynn was employed by Gibson Discount Center, General Electric, Kimberly’s Bridal, Carroll Community Schools, and she was the bookkeeper for the family business Electronic Specialties. Lynn enjoyed reading, music, road trips, figure 8 races, doing crossword puzzles, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and Chicago Cubs, but her greatest joy in life was her family and friends. Lynn is survived by her husband Dean Carstens of Carroll; son Jeremy Carstens and granddaughter Leah of Carroll; two sisters: Sharon Barkley (Bill) of Staunton, VA, and Robin Lohmann (Greg Hucka) of Glidden; her father-in-law Gale Carstens of Lake View; her mother-in-law Sally Carstens of Carroll; two brothers-in-law: Kevin Carstens (Colleen) of Minneapolis, MN, and Curt Carstens of Carroll; sister-in-law Terrell Carstens of Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews: Kent Homan, Kim McLaughlin, Troy Lohmann, Ben Lohmann, Josh Carstens, Emily Carstens, Mollie Carstens, Ronnie Carstens, Breanna Carstens, Cade Carstens, Kylie Carstens; several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many many good friends including her special friend Jane Olberding. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and her good friend Deb Bruning.
