Lucina “Lucy” R. Hackett, age 90, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Carroll Church of Christ with Rev. Gale Juhl officiating. Casket bearers will be Justin Kraus, Cory Golly, Thomas Hackett, Steve Brandl, Tasha Cowles, and Adam Grimsman. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemtery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on July 1, 1926 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of William and Anna (Klocke) Schulze. Lucy, as she was known to most, was a lifelong resident of Carroll. Following her schooling, Lucy worked as a caregiver and housekeeper for several local families. She was married to William “Bill” Hackett Jr. in 1949 in Minnesota. The couple made their home in Carroll where Bill worked for Arnold Motor Supply and Lucy worked as a housekeeper for many years. She was a member of the Carroll Church of Christ and the Moose Lodge. Lucy had a warm heart and a kind, loving, spirit. She enjoyed reading, going to movies, camping, fishing, crafts, and spending time with her family and her church family. Lucy is survived by two daughters: Pam Corbin (Phil) of Urbandale, IA, and Jeanne Evers (Gil) of Carroll; her son Rick Hackett (Doris) Cambridge, IA; six grandchildren: Justin Kraus of Raleigh, NC, Kristine Hackett (Tasha Cowles) of Slater, IA, Thomas Hackett (Erin) of Ames, IA, Amanda Golly (Cory) of Cambridge, IA, Chelsea Evers (Derek Huenecke) of Long Beach, CA, and Cassie Evers (Adam Grimsman) of Cedar Falls, IA; six great grandchildren: Jack, Lydia, Samuel, Alyson, Andrew, and Alexander, and one on the way!! Lucy was preceded in death by her parents William and Anna Schulze, and her husband William “Bill” Hackett Jr.
