Lucille Mariam Petersen, 95, of Ames, and formerly of Glidden, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Abington on Grand at Ames.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Organist will be Becky Miller, and the congregation will sing.
Casket bearers will be grandchildren Jodie Stokke, Danny Tryon, Donald Tryon, David Tryon, Tonja Erickson, Nels Petersen, Larisa Bickel and Anna O’Connor.
Burial will be in Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery at Glidden.
Friends may call from noon until time of the service at the church.
The family suggests that friends may contribute to a memorial fund in memory of Lucille to Peace Lutheran Church of Glidden.
Arrangements are by Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home of Glidden.
She was born Feb. 2, 1915, at Audubon County, Iowa, a daughter of Soren and Anna (Jensen) Schmidt.
She married Emanuel Petersen on Feb. 18, 1937, in Audubon.
After marriage they farmed near Scranton and retired in Glidden. Mrs. Petersen loved to travel, garden, do handwork and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church the Ladies Aid, quilting group and the Anniversary Club.
She is survived by two children, Janet Tryon and her husband, Dale, of Ames, and Everitt Petersen and his wife, Terri, of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1983; her parents; two brothers, Victor Schmidt and Herman Schmidt and his wife Margarat.
