Lowell Platt age 75 of Glidden, Iowa died at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll on May 22, 2008 following a long illness. Funeral Service will be at 2PM on Saturday May 24, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Organist for the funeral will beMrs. Becky Miller and singing will be Mark and Marlis Conner Those who will carry the casket are: Rod Brant, Chuck McClue, Ben Platt, David Bushman, Danny Stofer,Tom Schultes and honorary casket Bearers will be Roland Heuton, Chuck Best, Harold Madsen, Verlin Danner, Louis Rich, Lyle Crook, Russ Draves, Leland Bender... Interment will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Merle Hay Post of the American Legion.. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5PM on Friday where there will be a prayer service at 7PM. The casket will be moved to the Church at 12:30 PM on Saturday for viewing until time of the service. Lowell was born on November 22, l932 at Carroll Iowa and was the son of Harry F. and Alvina Heuton Platt. He was married to Donna Bushman on June 10, 195l at Peace Lutheran Church by Pastor E. W. M. Brewer. Lowell was a Veteran of the Korean War,and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations service Medal and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he had served as Elder and Trustee, The Merle Hay Post of the American Legion and had been a Hail adjuster for Farmers Mutual. Lowell was a retired Farmer having farmed 40 years. He then worked for the Glidden Coop for 10 years following his retirement from farming. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, fishing, watching TV and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife Donna of Glidden, two sons: Dick Platt and his wife Amy of Glidden and Gregg Platt and his wife Kim of Glidden, also 4 grandchildren: Benjamin, Ashley, Cassondra and Brian and a sister Delores Bentley of Glidden and a sister in law LaRaine Bushman of Churdan, Iowa and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother Kenneth and 2 brothers in law Quintin Bentley and Kenneth Bushman.
