Louise Mary Hupp, age 96, of Scranton, IA, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jefferson with Fr. John Gerald as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be Laura Hupp.  Music for the Mass will be by Janet Sabus as pianist and Tiffany Hupp as Cantor.  Gift bearers will be John and Tiffany Hupp with their children Zachary, Easton, and Jett.  Casket bearers will be Louise’s grandchildren.  Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. led by the Catholic Daughters. The casket will be moved to St. Joseph’ Church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Louise was born on January 25, 1925 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Joseph and Matilda (Hansen) Heller.  She grew up in Carroll and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy.  She was married to Cecil Hupp on August 12, 1943 in Carroll.  After Cecil’s military service they lived on the farm.  After Cecil’s death in 1985, Louise continued to live on the farm until October of 2019 when she moved to the Gardens in Jefferson.  Louise worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Carroll for many years.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton until its closing when she joined St. Joseph’s in Jefferson.  She was a member of the Altar Guild and the Catholic Daughters.  She belonged to Heartfelt Quilters, Telephone Pioneers, and the Red Hat Society.  Louise also enjoyed volunteering with the hospital auxiliary in Jefferson and the New Hope Village Bargain Shop in Carroll.  She enjoyed playing cards and dominos, reading, crossword puzzles, and Scrabble.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Louise is survived by her three sons and their families: Donald Hupp (Kim) of Wichita Falls, TX, James Hupp (Pamela) of Yorba Linda, CA, and Steve Hupp (Nancy) of Scranton; eight grandchildren: Brent Hupp (Debbie), Amy Tice (Troy), Amanda Hupp, Kayla Henderson (Trent), Andy Hupp (Megan), Laura Hupp (Alex Christian), John Hupp (Tiffany), and Joe Hupp; eight great-grandchildren: Dylan and Abby Hupp, Haven and Cody Tice, Elizabeth Henderson, and Zachary, Easton, and Jett Hupp; a sister-in-law Carol Heller of Carroll; and several nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and many good friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Matilda Heller; husband Cecil Hupp; her son Thomas Hupp; four brothers: William Heller, Joseph Heller Jr. (Mary Lou), Ronnie Heller, and Robert Heller; two sisters: Mary Ann Lane (Marvin) and Donna Rae Joseph; and two granddaughters: Polly de la Cruz and Jill Hupp.
