Louayne, pronounced Lou Wayne, was born on January 5, 1939 in Carroll, Iowa to Wayne and Martha (Russell) Osten. Upon her father’s return from WWII, her family moved to Denver, CO to pursue business opportunities. She grew up in Denver and attended East High School where she met her future husband Reed Barnes. Reed and Louayne married in 1959 and had three children together, Reed Jr., Renee’ Marie, and Russell Lee. After 18 years of marriage, they agreed to separate and in 1980, Louayne left Denver to live in Sacramento, California. She loved spending time with her family in Sacramento and enjoyed being outdoors. After seeing the “grumpy British man,” who also loved being outside, she walked over to say hello. After several years of companionship, they married in 1996 and were off to live in a family residence in New Hampton, IA. Louayne and Edgar Warner lived happily in New Hampton for the next 20 years. They met and enjoyed conversing with several wonderful and caring neighbors. Failing health brought her to Colorado Springs to be near family shortly after Edgar’s death in 2017. She spent her remaining days planning for a healthier life where she could surround herself with family, have barbeques on her deck, and plant flowers to spruce up her new house. She is survived by her son Russell Barnes (Holly) of Colorado Springs, CO; three granddaughters: Heather Cassel (Joshua), Katrina Barnes and Shaleene Matthaei; three grandsons: Daniel Reid, Vincent Reid and Shane Reid; and five great-grandchildren Triston and Megan Matthaei and Brendan, Logan and Dylan Cassel. Preceded in death by her husband Edgar; parents Wayne and Martha Osten; daughter Renee’ Reid and son Reed Barnes, Jr.
