Lorraine Irene Boell, age 73, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Eugene Boell, Matthew Boell, Ryan Boell, John Snyder, Joe Grell, and Craig Boell.
Born on March 2, 1939 in Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Frances (Osterholdt) Snyder. She grew up in Carroll and attended St. Angela’s Academy. She was married to Virgil Boell on April 15, 1955 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple raised their family in Carroll and Lorraine worked several jobs over the years including the Carroll Country Club, J.C. Penny, and Carroll Middle School as a cook. Lorraine enjoyed fishing, raising tomatoes, canning, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Virgil of Carroll; three sons: Mark Boell and his wife Deb of Carroll, Dan Boell of Carroll, and Scott Boell of Glidden; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three brothers: Al Snyder and his wife Charlene of Omaha, Nebraska, Jack Snyder and his wife Bernice of Mason City, Iowa, and Robert Snyder of Carroll; two sisters-in-law Janice Mobley and her husband Jack of Sacramento, California, and Marvel Bruning of Denison, Iowa; a brother-in-law Eugene Boell and his wife Diane of Lidderdale; and several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Ron Bruning and a sister Elvina Weiland.
