Lorna Louise Knute, age 93, of Glidden passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Regency Park in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Organist for the service will be Becky Miller. Casket bearers will be Chad Krogh, Brett Rosenau, Nick Knute, Matt Stokes, Jackson Greteman, and Don Tuel. Honorary casket bearers will be Jen Wallace, Stacy Pike, Clare Nagl, Heather Techmeier, Katie Tuel, and Kim Daniels. Burial be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for Lorna’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on March 23, 1925 on her family’s farm near Arcadia, IA, she was the daughter of Christoph and Louise (Meyers) Rose. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. After her schooling, Lorna moved to Jackson, Michigan, where she lived with her aunt and uncle and worked as a waitress in a café. Upon her return to Arcadia, she met Lester Knute at the roller skating rink in Carroll. Lester and Lorna were married on June 29, 1947 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden by Pastor Jung. The couple lived on the Knute family farm north of Glidden where they raised their four children and Lorna was very active in the farming operation. They moved into Glidden in 1988 and retired from farming in 1990. Lorna worked at Wal-Mart in retirement for ten years as a greeter and later in the sewing department. Lorna was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden where she taught Sunday school and Bible school, and served as officer of the church guild and LWML. She was also very active with the church quilters. She was famous in Glidden for apple pie and for her vegetable soup at the annual Peace Lutheran Church soup supper. Lorna made all of her children’s clothing and a wedding ring quilt for each of her grandchildren. Lorna is survived by her four children: Diane Krogh of Carroll, Roger Knute (Kris) of Carroll, Sue Rosenau (Paul) of Prior Lake, MN, and Karla Stokes (Mark) of Ankeny; ten grandchildren: Chad Krogh of Wake Forest, NC, Clare Nagl (Eric) of Carroll, Jen Wallace (Chris) of Glidden, Nick Knute (Sarah) of Urbandale, Brett Rosenau (Tynisa) of New Glarus, WI, Stacy Pike (fiancé Josh Langenfeld) of Rosemont, MN, Heather Techmeier (Kurt) Muskego, WI, Katie Tuel (Don) of Granger, Kim Daniels (Anthony) of Bondurant, and Matt Stokes (Emily) New Hampton; twenty two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Gladys Hansen of Audubon and Louise Bruhn (Bill) of Manning; a brother Harry Rose (Florence) of Glidden; and many nieces and nephews. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents Christoph and Louise Rose; her mother and father-in-law Henry and Tena Knute; a granddaughter Jill Knute in 1991, a great-granddaughter Makayla Pike in 2003, her husband Lester Knute in 2013; and her sister Bernice.
