Lola Mae Tigges

January 21, 1955 — February 13, 2022

Lola Mae Tigges, age 67, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her family.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Fr. Patrick Behm as Celebrant.  Music for the Mass will be by the Annunciation Choir with Diane Slater as organist.  Gift bearers will be Brynn Bass, Lauren Derner, and Paige Klocke.  Eucharistic Minister will be Trish Tigges.  Mass Servers will be Easton and Parker Hays.  Casket bearers will be Jacob Derner, Nathan Derner, Sam Dougall, Cody Klocke, and Cale Klocke.   Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday evening.  The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday where visitation without greeting the family will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Lola was born on January 21, 1955 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Leonard and Lucille (Broich) Fischer.  She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School 1973.  Lola was married to Gary Tigges on December 27, 1975 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church by Fr. Leo Lenz.  The couple made their home in Dedham for three years.  They moved to Coon Rapids in 1979 where she had a daycare in her home for over 15 years.  Lola also worked for the Family Resource Center in Carroll and the Coon Rapids – Bayard Elementary School and was known as “Grandma Lola”.  Lola was very active Relay for Life for Team Bass and always catered their roast beef fundraiser dinner.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, going to garage sales, camping, crafting, shopping, and most of all being the best Grandma ever!!

Lola is survived by her husband Gary of Coon Rapids; six children and their families: Shelley Klocke of Willey, Jen Dougall (Steve) of Coon Rapids, Kristy Bass (Ryan) of Coon Rapids, twins Katie Lahr (Josh) of Carroll and Kari Taylor (Chad) of Phoenix, AZ, and Scott Tigges (Albina) of Coon Rapids; nineteen grandchildren: Connor, Jacob, Sam, Nathan, Cody, Cale, Lauren, Brynn, Paige, Ashtyn, Brooklyn, Kendyl, Brielle, Teagen, Gavin, Brylin, Tage, Bostyn, and Trice; her sister Linda Beidler of Mesa, AZ; a sister-in-law Mary Daiker of Carroll; two brothers-in-law: Allan Tigges (Pat) of Willey and Kevin Tigges (Barb) of Mt. Carmel; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Lucille Fischer; her father and mother-in-law Ed and Rita Tigges; and a son Jason at age 3 in 1982.
