Lois Lou Rungee, age 80, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastors David Anthony and Brian Licht officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. Organist for the service will be Janet Hoff. Musical selections will be I’m But a Stranger Here and Amazing Grace. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Born on May 2, 1929 at Gayville, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Frank and Eva (McNatt) Garnsey. As a girl her family moved from South Dakota to Missouri and then to Walnut, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1947. She then moved to Marne where she worked at the Blue Star Egg Plant. She was married to Lyle Rungee on August 5, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. Lois was employed by Spurgeons department store for many years, she babysat for the Bruner family for many years, and she worked at the Carroll Recycling Center. Lois also enjoyed working as a campground host at Swan Lake Campground for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and R.S.V.P. Surviving are her son Edward Rungee and his wife Mary of Huber Heights, Ohio; a daughter Barbara Darr of Salisbury, Missouri; two granddaughters Michelle Boggs and her husband Jeffrey, and Sara Darr; two great grandsons Matthew and Erik; a sister-in-law Norma of Foster of Rhode Island; and a step-brother Paul McDonald and his wife Marge of Lincoln, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother Leta Bobbitt, her husband Lyle in 1992, and two brothers Virgil and Edwin.
