Lois Maxwell

February 24, 1936 — December 13, 2017

     Lois T. Maxwell, age 81, of Carroll passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Regency Park in Carroll.      Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be Amy Petersen.  Gift bearers will be Tanner and McKenna Petersen.  Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist.  Honorary pall bearers will be Judy and Eugene Havermann, Roxanne and Katelyn Aden, and Dell and Bryan Petty.  Eucharistic minister Judy Havermann.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.      Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M.  Visitation will resume at Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday and will continue until the time of Mass.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com       Born on February 24, 1936 on her family’s farm near Lidderdale, she was the daughter of George and Christine (Thobe) Nees.  She grew up on the farm and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in 1954.  Lois attended Iowa State University where she studied electrical engineering.  She then lived with her sister in Chicago for two years where she worked in accounting.  She later moved to Baltimore where she met her future husband Warren Maxwell.  Warren and Lois were married on December 19, 1971 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  The couple made their home in Carroll where Lois worked at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in payroll and personnel for 30 years.  She also worked part-time for Verna Frank and Elderbridge.  Lois was a member of Holy Spirit Parish.  She enjoyed reading, socializing, flowers, and helping people with their taxes through Elderbridge.  Lois was very proud of the fact that many of the employees she hired to work at St. Anthony Regional Hospital are still employed there today.      Lois is survived by her sister Phyllis Kane of St. Paul, MN; several cousins; many good friends and her dog “Megan”.  She was preceded in death by her parents George and Christine Nees, her husband Warren,  a brother-in-law Edward Kane, and her beloved pets.
