Lois Ann Hoffman, age 86, of Coon Rapids passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Fr. John Gerald as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Nadine Hoffman. Eucharistic Ministers will be Joan Hart and Nadine Hoffman. Gift bearers will be Lois’ granddaughters: Jennifer Sease, Jodie Irlmeier, Tracy Tague, Sarah Christensen, and Kimberly Wiles. Music for the Mass will be by the Annunciation Choir with Diane Slater as organist. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Jonathan Halbur, Matthew Oliver, Jason Oliver, and Bradley Oliver. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 3:30 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to Annunciation Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on November 22, 1931 on her family’s farm west of Breda, she was the daughter of Leo and Frances (Jasper) Berning. She grew up on the farm and graduated from St. Bernard’s Catholic High School in 1949. Lois was married to Alfred J. Hoffman on December 27, 1951 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda by Fr. John Hausman. The couple made their home northwest of Coon Rapids where they farmed until 1988 when they retired and moved into town. Lois was an active member of Annunciation Parish in Coon Rapids where she served on the church guild. Lois was famous for her pies and always made them on Saturday afternoon for Sunday after church. She was an immaculate homemaker and always kept a spotless house. Family was most important to Lois, and she loved having her grandchildren come to stay. She enjoyed her daily walks on the nature trail and never missed writing in her journal. Her kind and loving spirit will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her. Lois is survived by; a daughter Patricia Oliver (Mark) of Coon Rapids; twins: Diane Halbur (Roger Slater) of Glidden and Dennis Hoffman (Lois) of Coon Rapids; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Clarence Berning of Carroll and Leo Berning (Mary Jo) of Arcadia; her in-laws: Merlin Wuebker of Milford, Eugene Hoffman (Carol) of Carroll, Lorraine Klocke of Carroll, and Dorothy Hoffman of Dedham; and many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Frances Berning; her mother and father-in-law John and Theresa Hoffman; and two sisters: Lorraine Gehling (Edward) and Rita Wuebker; sister-in-law Sally Berning and her husband Alfred Hoffman on June 18, 2015.
