Logan Clifton Dunham was born on February 11, 1921 at his parent’s home in Decatur, IL. He was the son of Logan A. and Lucy Elizabeth (Moore) Dunham. He attended elementary and high schools in Illinois and graduated in 1939. After that he attended Western Illinois Teachers College at Macomb, IL for two years. It was while at Macomb that he heeded the call to become a Minister of the Gospel. He transferred to Minnesota Bible College in Minneapolis and studied for one and a half years and later studied at Dakota Bible College and preached at Brookings, South Dakota.
It was while attending Minnesota Bible College that he met Virginia Mae Tuschoff who was also a student there. They were married on June 18, 1943 at her home near Spencer, Iowa. Five children came to bless this union: James, Paul, Linda, Mark, and Kimberly. Logan spent his life serving the Lord, in the Christian Church – Churches of Christ in Iowa, South Dakota, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Indiana. He helped start two Christian Service Camps, several new churches, and served as secretary of the Chicago District Evangelizing Association and later as Evangelist for that organization. He was always active in youth work believing that the future of the church was in young people won to Christ. He was a strong preacher of the Word of God and an ardent worker in Vacation Bible School. His most successful Vacation Bible School was at Hebron, Indiana as they reached a total of 275 students in one year plus teachers and workers. He was a licensed pilot for over 50 years and Chaplain of the Civil Air Patrol. He was a licensed insurance agent for over 30 years in the states of Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas. He was known for his hard work for the Lord and a good provider for his family, often doing so with his and Virginia’s hands. He loved preaching and loved the people which accounts for the success he enjoyed. He preached many revivals and after turning 60 years of age, and he helped build six new church buildings. After 54 years in full time ministry he retired but was kept busy doing interim and supply work in several churches. He also spent several years as Chaplain at Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City, Iowa. Logan believed Jesus came to serve and followed his example. Hundreds now serve Christ because he led the way.
