Loanna Mae Meiers

LoAnna Mae Meiers, age 73, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Ryan Roehrig officiating.  Organist for the service will be Abe Batten and soloist will be Briee Roehrig. Casket bearers will be Colby Greenwood, Brian Worley, Edgar Kline, Scott Quandt, Terry Kline, and Dennis Kline.  Honorary casket bearers will be her God children: Rodney Gosch, Tricia Reimer, Darcy Dailey, Chad Gorham, Jena Dickinson, Darin Gloede, and Tanya Chapman. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday, January 13, 2023.  The casket will be moved to St. Paul Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

LoAnna was born on May 19, 1949 in Dunlap, IA, and she was the daughter of Lowell Herbert and Wilma Jane (TenEyck) Kline.  She grew up in Dunlap and graduated from Schleswig High School in 1967.  LoAnna was married to Robert Thul on August 5, 1967 and to this union two children were born: Candrice and Troy.  The family lived in Schleswig where LoAnna had several jobs over years.  LoAnna and Bob were divorced in 1992 and she moved to Carroll.  She was later married to Don Meiers on June 27, 1998 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.  LoAnna worked at American Home Shield for several years as well as several other jobs.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had taught Sunday school.  LoAnna enjoyed Elvis Presley and his music, interior decorating, crocheting afghans, woodworking, plants and flowers, fishing, and spending time with her family attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

LoAnna is survived by her husband Don Meiers of Carroll; her daughter Candrice “Candi” Thul (Lauren Preston) of Asheville, NC; her son Troy Thul (Anna) of Rochester, MN; her three grandchildren: Abigail, Amelia, and Josef; Don’s children and their families: Sonia Bell (Keith) of Conyers, GA, and their children: Aiden, Sophia, and Brooklyn, Morgan Keck (Noah) of Solon, IA, and their children: Cash and Ace, and Whitney Cavanaugh (Brandon) of Grimes, IA and their children: Sloan and Paige.  LoAnna is also survived by her siblings: brother Ronald Kline (Joann) of Vinton, VA, sister Audrey Gorham of Dunlap, sister Vickie Bubke (Roger) of Carroll, sister Kathy Quandt (Richard) of Schleswig, brother Daniel Kline of Sutherland, IA, brother Donald Kline (Toni) of Le Mars, sister Bonnie Schraeder (Lynn) of Woodbine, and brother Rick Shumate (Michelle) of Sioux Falls, SD; her in-laws: Barbara Berndt (Chuck) of Aurora, MO, Carol Cerny (Dean) of Fairbury, NE, James Meiers (Karen) of Lubbock, TX, and David Meiers (Sandy) of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

LoAnna was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Peggy Block; and a brother Randy Shumate.
