Linda Kay Rettenmaier, age 70, of Carroll and formerly of Breda passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Regency Park in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. by Holy Spirit Parish. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Lector for the Mass will be Jeff Scharfenkamp. Gift bearers will be Paul and Lisa Leto. Eucharistic Minister will be Lori Lloyd and Mass Servers will be Cale and Eli Scharfenkamp. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist and John Wagner as soloist. Casket bearers will be J.J. Lloyd, Cody Lloyd, Tanner Scharfenkamp, Jeff Scharfenkamp, Tom Scharfemkamp, and Jon Scharfenkamp. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery near Breda. Born on February 25, 1944 in Carroll she was the daughter of Marcus and Julia (Nees) Rettenmaier. She grew up in Breda and graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1962. Following high school she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years and then went to work for Iowa Public Services. Following her retirement she worked part time for Bomgaars. Linda was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. In her spare time she enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with her family and friends. Linda is survived by two sisters: Karen Scharfenkamp and her husband John of rural Carroll and Betty Rettenmaier of Sioux City; five nieces and nephews: Lori and Dirk Lloyd of Carroll, Jeff and Sue Scharfenkamp of Carroll, Tom and Teri Scharfenkamp of Carroll, Lisa and Paul Leto of Grimes, and Jon Scharfenkamp of Lidderdale; seven great nieces and nephews, and her very special friend Bonnie Schug of Carroll. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Marcus and Julia Rettenmaier and a brother Gerald.
