Linda Dawn Honold, age 80, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 at her home in rural Coon Rapids surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Pastor Kevin Evers officiating. Music will be by Cindy Seastrom. Casket bearers will be Josh Young, Zach Promes, Wyatt Neumann, Sam Honold, Kevin Farley, and Syrus Stice. Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery in rural Coon Rapids.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Linda was born on January 1, 1946 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll and was the daughter of John Frederick and Fairy Faye (Vaughan) Shirbroun. She was baptized and confirmed in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in Coon Rapids. She attended Coon Rapids Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1964. After graduation, she worked at Bell Telephone as a telephone operator.

On November 4, 1967, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Douglas Honold at the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in Coon Rapids. To this union, three boys were born – Jeff in 1969, Cory in 1971, and Michael in 1976. Linda attended Buena Vista University graduating in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She then opened and operated 1-2-1 Learning in Carroll and Panora where she tutored numerous children over the years making a huge impact on the lives of so many students until she sold the business. She continued to tutor part-time at her home. She then was employed as the Activity Director at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carroll for five years until her health started to decline.

Linda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. She was a former member of the Tri T’s. She taught Sunday School for many years to all ages of children and played the organ and also organized multiple Christmas programs throughout the years. Linda loved watching and attending all of her children and grandchildren’s activities.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Neal Shirbroun (Lois); Jay Shirbroun (Charlene), sister Joy Annear (Dave); and parents-in-law Fred and Helen Honold.

Linda is survived by her husband of 59 years Douglas Honold of Coon Rapids; sons: Jeff Honold (Lisa) of Carroll, Cory Honold (Shannon) of Bellevue, NE, and Michael Honold (Jill) of Lingle, WY; grandchildren: Keeley Young (Josh), Heath Honold, Bailey Farley (Kevin), Kristin Promes (Zach), Kenzie Neumann (Wyatt), and Leah Hill; great-grandchildren: Stella and Sutton Young, Isabel and Vincent Promes; special son Syrus Stice; brother-in-law Jerry Honold (Bev) of Coon Rapids; very dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
