Linda Bender

     Linda Bender of Glidden, Iowa, passed away in her home on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden with Rev. Rick Hamilton of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for Linda’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Glidden First Responders and may be left with the funeral home. Linda was born on January 7, 1941 in Toledo, Iowa, and was the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Mohler) Fabricius.  She graduated from Carroll High School.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Glidden.  Linda married Jerry Bender on October 18, 1959 at the Presbyterian Church in Glidden.  She and Jerry farmed in the Glidden community for 30 years, and Linda drove a school bus for Glidden-Ralston Community School for 34 years.  Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking/baking, working in the yard, and bird watching. Linda is survived by four children; a son Scott and wife Kris of Spencer, IA; a son Kurt and wife Kim of Des Moines, IA; a daughter Patti Mendenhall and husband Gary of Carroll, IA; a son Ryan and husband Jim of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister Carolyn Scofield of Denver, CO; a sister NaDean Schmidt of Ellensburg, WA; a sister Diane Estlund and husband Ken of Denver, CO; and several nieces and nephews.  Her parents, and a brother William “Bill” preceded her in death.     We give our sincere gratitude to the Carroll Area Nurses. The supreme care and emotional support given to Mom over the years has been more than words can express.
