Lillian Rae Knight, age 83, of Carroll died at the Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center on January 14, 2010. Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll with the Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzsimmons officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 AM on Tuesday to lie in state until the time service. Interment will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery at Glidden. Casket bearers will be Larry Sporrer, Pat O’Donnell, Ned Johnston, Ted Johnston, Duane Hoover, and Dean Hoover. Honorary casket bearers will be Patt Hultman, Connie Dentlinger, Kim Irlbeck and Karla Schieffer. Born on August 26, 1926 at Gowrie, Iowa, she was the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Hobbs) Temple. She was married to Warren Knight on Feb 22,1947 at Boone, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Rippey Conslidated High School in 1947. Lil worked as a line operator at General Electric in Carroll for several years before retiring in 1988. She has lived in Carroll since 1950. Lil was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll. She worked with the Girl Scouts and was a member of the South Side Country Club. In her spare time she loved to dance, work jig saw puzzles, watching television, reading, and writing poetry. Surviving are her husband Warren of Carroll; three daughters: Connie Fontanini of Carroll, Deborah Hargens and her husband Jerry of Glidden, and Paula Knight of Carroll, six grandchildren: Bobby Fontanini, Todd Fontanini and his wife Ronica, Holly Anthofer and her husband Mark, Scott Hargens, Rachel Benetiz and her husband Michael and Katie Hennessy, seven great grandchildren: Jeffery, Ashtyn, Isabella, and Sophia Fontanini, and Cody,Nickolas, and Hunter Anthofer; an aunt Lillian Leatherby of Panora; and a sister-in-law Eileen Hoover of Carroll; and a brother-in-law Darwin Johnston of Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Lila Johnston.
