Leota Johnson

Leota W. Johnson , age 94, of Carroll passed away on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Carroll Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor David Anthony officiating. Organist for the service will be Jan Hoff. Visitation will be held from 1:o0 P.M. on Friday until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Born on September 21, 1915 on her family’s farm in Grant Township, Carroll County, Iowa. John and Katherine (Wesack)Platt. She was baptized on October 24, 1915 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale, Iowa. She lived on the farm until May of 1924. At eight years of age she attended Carroll Grade School. She was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church on April 13, 1930. She graduated from Carroll High School in May of 1934. She married Henry D. Johnson of Glidden in Des Moines on September 21, 1947. They made their home with her parents where Leota cared for them and Henry farmed near Glidden. Leota and Henry spent their winters in Mc Allen, Texas. Surviving are two nieces: Charlotte Vetter of Carroll, and Wilma Clauss of Pasadena, California; and several great nieces and nephews. Leota was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters: Ella Platt, Marie Strait, and Anna Fowler; and a brother Arthur Platt.
