Leon A. Rosonke, age 65, of Carroll, Iowa passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Born on June 21, 1942 at Carroll, Iowa he was the son of Leo Stephen and Mary (Reiling) Rosonke. He grew up in Mt. Carmel and attended Mt. Carmel School as a boy. He graduated from Holy Cross Seminary School at Notre Dame in 1960 and then attended Notre Dame University and Drake University. He was married to Sharon K. Irlbeck on August 17, 1968 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple later divorced. Leon was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.
Surviving are two sons: Peter Rosonke and his wife Carissa of Des Moines, Iowa, and Steve Rosonke and his fiancée Diane Kang of Kingsburg, California; two grandchildren: Taylor and Rylee Rosonke; a brother Brother Paul Rosonke of Austin, Texas; a sister Dolores Herbers of Manning, a brother Virgil Rosonke and his wife Alvera of Manning; and a sister Sister Rose Zita Rosonke of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Rev. James McCormick officiating. Lector for the Mass will be Brother Paul Rosonke and Gift Bearers will be Carissa Rosonke and Diane Kang. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday until the time of service. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Mt. Carmel. Casket bearers will be Terry rosonke, Wayne Rosonke, Jim Herbers, Joe Herbers, Dave Boeck, and Richard Whitefield.
