Larry Lou Lasher

Larry L. Lasher, age 88, of Lidderdale, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his home near Lidderdale.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale with Pastor Paul Ferderer officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in rural Lidderdale with military honors by the Iowa Army National Guard.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 14, 2025, where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the Mayo Clinic for Parkinson’s Disease Research and may be left with the funeral home or at the church.

Larry was born on January 25, 1937, in Lake City, IA, and was the son of Daniel and June (Remsburg) Lasher.  He grew up on his family’s farm north of Lidderdale.  He graduated from Lake City High School in 1955.  Larry enlisted in the United States Army and served three years stationed in France.  He played baseball for the Army and also at Iowa State University which he attended upon his discharge. On August 2, 1959, he was united in marriage to Linda Obmann at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. The couple lived in Wall Lake for three years before moving to a farm northeast of Lidderdale and then the Lasher Family Farm in 1971 where they raised their family.  Larry and Linda enjoyed spending the winters in Alamo, Texas.  They were very proud of their farming operation which received the Farm Bureau Heritage Farm Award in 2022.   Larry was an avid Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Cubs fan.  He loved college baseball, especially the Vanderbilt Commodores, but most of all Larry loved his family, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him “PaPa”.

Larry is survived by his daughter Luann Lasher-Gregg (Jeff) of Cedar Falls, IA; son Lance Lasher (Ann) of Charles City, IA; son Lenny Lasher (Andrea) of Ft. Worth, TX; 8 grandchildren: Jessica Thomson (Matt), Abby Brinkman (Justin), Allison Gregg, Kali Johnson (Jesse), Nate Lasher, Baron Lasher (Karen Alvarado), Blaize Lasher, and Bryce Lasher; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Joyce Schroeder (Gary) of Manning, IA; two nieces; and two nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife Linda Lasher in 2021; his parents; his in-laws Verner and Dorothy Obmann; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Fred Obmann (Marilyn).
