Larry Leland Heuton, age 77, of Des Moines and formerly rural Glidden, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Mercy-Westlake Hospital in Des Moines surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Greg Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will be held until the time of the service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made out to Phelan McDermid Syndrome Foundation, an alliance for a rare genetic condition. Memorials may be left at the funeral home. Born on September 13, 1940, in Carroll, Larry was the son of Lawrence and Malinda (Fleshner) Heuton. Larry grew up near Glidden and he graduated from Glidden High School in 1958. Larry began farming with his father until 1962. He was married to Jane Wyckoff on March 10, 1962 in Page, Arizona. Larry and Jane farmed near Glidden for 33 years. They moved to Des Moines in 1995, where Larry worked as a dairy manager at a Dahl’s store. He was known for his smile and friendliness. Larry loved sports and was a great Iowa Hawkeye fan. He had an amazing memory of facts and scores from past years of all sports. He loved playing with his grandkids, trips out west to visit family, the mountains, and the ocean. Larry is survived by his wife, Jane of Des Moines; his sons: Paul Heuton (Bonnie) of Carroll, Lynn Heuton (Brenda) of Carroll, Ryan Heuton (Cindy) of Carroll; seven grandchildren: Nick Heuton (Krista), Travis Heuton (Molly), Stacy Heithoff (Tim), Brandon Heuton (Sarah White), Tyler Heuton (McKaylee), Alex Heuton, and Noah Heuton; seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Shirley Disney of Urbandale, Dea Slocum (Bill) of Scranton, Linda Reed of Ankeny, Connie Heuton of Johnston; one brother, Lonnie Heuton (Lois) of Glidden; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law; a grandson, Zachary Paul Heuton; and his brothers-in-law, Don Reed and Jack Disney.
