Kyle Onken, age 50, of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and formerly of Glidden passed away unexpectedly due to injuries suffered in an ATV accident on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Missoula, Montana.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. Organist for the service will be Linda Dern.
Born on September 10, 1960 at Lake City, Iowa, he was the son of Ken and Beverly (Finley) Onken. Kyle grew up in Glidden and graduated from Glidden High School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden. Kyle lived in Atlantic Beach, Florida and worked as a golf caddy at Pablo Creek Golf Course and he worked some summers at Butler Golf Course in Chicago, Illinois. For the past three summers he worked as a caddy at rock Creek Cattle Company in Deer Lodge, Montana. Kyle’s cross country lifestyle gave him the best of warm Florida winters and the beautiful mountains and mild summers in Western Montana. He had many family-like friends in both places who have all been very sharing and kind in this time of sorrow. In his spare time he enjoyed Jaguar football, swimming, and golf.
Surviving are his mother Beverly Onken of Glidden; three sisters: Barb Etzen and her husband Chuck of Chandler, Arizona, Wendy Bock and her husband Bob of Glidden, and Peggy Gibson of fountain Hills, Arizona; 8 nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.
Kyle was preceded in death by his father Ken in 2003, a sister Julie in infancy, his grandparents Ed and Rosetta Onken and Everett and Bessie Finley, and two aunts: Jackie Mortenson and Arlene Tredeway.
