Kenneth Dean Sprimont

Kenneth Dean Sprimont, age 84, of Dayton, IA, and formerly of Glidden, IA, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Chaplain Angelo Luis of St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden with military honors by the Glidden American Legion and the US Marine Corps.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Those in attendance at the services are requested to abide by the Covid-19 social distancing guidelines and facemasks are required.

Ken was born on February 29, 1936 in Carroll and he was the son of Willard Sprimont and Fern (Marx) Sprimont. He grew up on the family farm located outside of Glidden. After graduation from Glidden-Ralston High School he joined the Marine Corps. He married Frances Short on September 30 th , 1956 in a military ceremony at the Naval Chapel in Bremerton, Washington. Kenneth was stationed overseas numerous times throughout his career and served in the Vietnam War, where he was wounded outside of Chuy Ly, Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After serving 20 years in the Marine Corp, he retired from active duty and began his life as a civilian. He worked for a number of years for Farmland Industries retiring as a supervisor. He enjoyed a quiet life, socializing with friends and spending time with a family he cherished.

Ken is survived by his wife Sharon of Dayton, Iowa and 3 children. Timothy Sprimont and wife Cathy of Shawnee, Kansas, Tammy Gatewood of Pittsburg, Missouri, and Gregory Sprimont and wife Leigh of Port Charlotte, Florida. His sister Sherry Pierce of Carroll, Iowa. His cousin Doris White and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews of which he shared an enduring pride and love for each.
