Kelly Kim Vaughn

Kelly Kim (Fowler) Vaughn, age 55, of Nashua, IA, and formerly of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City surrounded by her family.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Fr. Patrick Behm as Celebrant. Lectors for the Mass will be Cheryl Vonnahme and Sharon Grote.  Eucharistic minister will be Mike McCaffrey.  Gift bearers will be Amy Dillavou and Aleva Vaughn.  Casket bearers will be Tom Vaughn, Bob Vaughn, Larry Vaughn, Eric Dillavou, Lucas Clark, and Jim Feilmeier.  Honorary casket bearers will be Kevin Dillavou and Dan Broich.  The Sons of Silence and Handlebar Jockeys- Denison, IA, motorcycle clubs will form an honor guard at the church.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday.  The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Kelly was born on December 22, 1966 in San Diego, CA, and she was the daughter of Harold and Irene (Kasperbauer) Fowler.  She grew up in Carroll and attended Holy Spirit Grade School and graduated from Carroll High School 1985.  She worked at St. Anthony Regional Hospital, the Carroll Health Center and Casey’s.  Kelly was married to Bill Vaughn on October 22, 1994 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.  They lived in Carroll until moving to Evansdale, IA, in 2005 and then to Nashua, IA in 2006 where she worked at Casey’s.  Kelly enjoyed collecting angels, two-dollar bills, fifty-cent pieces, and gold dollars.  She loved her two cats Snickers and Babers, and her two dogs Peanut and Maggie.  She also enjoyed going to concerts, riding motorcycles, and camping.  Kelly considered her nieces and nephews her children and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Kelly is survived by her husband Bill of Nashua, IA; her sister Ruth Dillavou (Kevin) of Carroll; three brothers-in-law: Tom Vaughn (Brenda) of Glidden, Bob Vaughn (Donna) of Waterloo, and Larry Vaughn (Michelle) of Carroll; her mother-in-law Peg Vaughn of Carroll; five nieces: Amy Dillavou (Lucas Clark) of Carroll, Aleva Vaughn of Carroll, Reann Vaughn of Reinbeck, Laura Lane (Jake) of Coon Rapids, and SheRee Rasmussen (Tyler) of Waterloo; four nephews: Troy Dillavou of Yazoo, MS, Eric Dillavou (Rebekah) of Deltona, FL, David Paul of Altoona, and Michael Fowler of Mankato, MN; several cousins; and many good friends.

Kelly was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Irene Fowler; her father-in-law Thomas Vaughn; her brother Larry Fowler and his wife Pam Paul, and a brother-in-law Alan Vaughn.
