Keith Laverne Vaux

Keith LaVerne Vaux, age 69, of Lanesboro, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Born on November 20, 1938 at Adaza, Iowa, he was the son of Marvin Edward and Bertha Violet (Mosher) Vaux. He grew up in the Lohrville area and graduated from Lohrville High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy following high school. Keith was married to Mary Jane Tilley in June 23, 1962 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Des Moines. She passed away on April 25, 1996. He was later married to Jolene Peter on July 25, 1998 at Montezuma, Iowa. The couple enjoyed spending their winters in McAllen, Texas where they attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were also affiliated with Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City, Iowa. Keith was an over the road truck driver and a member of the Teamster Union for thirty years. He retired from H&W Motor Express in 1997. In his spare time he enjoyed coaching baseball, fishing, and golfing. Surviving are his wife Jolene Vaux of Lanesboro, Iowa; a son John Vaux and his wife Diane of Des Moines, Iowa; a son Michael Vaux and his wife Le Anne of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; a son Brian Vaux of Glidden, Iowa; a son Steven Vaux of Des Moines, Iowa; a son Christopher Vaux of Des Moines, Iowa; a step-daughter Maurene West and her husband Rich of Des Moines, Iowa; a step-daughter Sandi Whittle of Quincy, Illinois; a step-daughter Elizabeth Howell of Des Moines, Iowa; a step-daughter Jennifer Braafhart and her husband Joey of Pella, Iowa; one granddaughter; nine step grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; a brother Larry Vaux of McAllen, Texas; a sister-in-law Vera Vaux of Chealis, Washington; and a sister-in-law Jeanne Gosch and her husband Steve of Lake City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary Jane, a daughter Mary Ann Vaux; a son Timothy Vaux, a grandson Adam Vaux, a brother Marvin Vaux, and his father-in-law Raymond Peter. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City, Iowa, with Pastor Erland Asmus officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday to lie in state until the time of service. Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery with military honors by the Lanesboro American Legion. Casket bearers will be Dave Remsberg, Don Vaux, Terry Mosher, Randy Mosher, Delwin Krause, and Bruce Thompson. Honorary casket bearers will be Randy Gosch, Steve Gosch, Bill Miller, Dean McCoy, Mark Davis, Tim Ball, Ryan Lechtenberg, and Don Kilburn.
