Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Kretzinger

Coon Rapids

     Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Kretzinger, age 82, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the New Homestead Care Center in Guthrie Center, IA, surrounded by her family.

     Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, September 12, 2025 at the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids, IA, with Rev. Kevin Evers officiating. Music for the service will be by her family. A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the funeral service. Graveside services at 1:30 P.M. on Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery near Coon Rapids.

     Visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church from 9:30 A.M. – 10:45 A.M. on Friday prior to the service.

     Kathleen was born on March 4, 1943 in Jefferson, IA. She was the daughter of Clayton and Ramona (Coil) Davis. She grew up in Coon Rapids where she graduated from high school. She was married to John Andrew “Andy” Kretzinger on December 28, 1957 at the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church. The couple moved to Northfield, MN where Andy attended St. Olaf College. They also lived in Ripon, Young America, and Bloomington, MN before moving back to Coon Rapids in 1962. Kathy was a stay-at-home mom until her children got older. She then had several jobs over the years including owning and operating the Montgomery Ward Department store in Jefferson. They also owned and operated a printing company, Kretz Press in Jefferson. Kathy and Andy moved to Montrose, CO, in 1983 where she sold real estate and worked at the local Holiday Inn. They moved to Grovespring, MO, where she worked at Baker’s Creek Seed Company for 10 years before moving back to Coon Rapids where she worked for the Whiterock Conservancy until retirement. Kathy was a member of the Coon Rapids Garden Club, P.E.O, Eastern Star, and the Colorado Audubon and Archeology Societies. She was very interested in genealogy and even took a trip to Ireland to study the family’s heritage. She had a love of gardening and growing beautiful flowers. Her favorite activity during retirement was playing bridge with her cherished friends.

     Kathy is survived by her husband Andy of Guthrie Center, IA; four children and their families: son Curtis Kretzinger (Diana) of Kansas City, MO, daughter Alice Kretzinger – Feldmann (Keith) of North Liberty, IA, son Erich Kretzinger (Kari) of Boone, IA, and son Robert Kretzinger (Glenda) of Johnston, IA; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister Diane Hardman (Alan) Coon Rapids; four brothers: David Davis of Coon Rapids, Mike Davis (Paula) of Coon Rapids, Marty Davis (Darla) of Coon Rapids, and Monte Davis (Sheri) of Carroll; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

     Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Clayton and Ramona Davis; her in-laws Bonnie and Orton Kretzinger; two brothers: John Davis and Tom Richardson; and a brother-in-law Karl Kretzinger.
