Katherine S. Winger

Katherine Winger, age 67, of Coon Rapids passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Born on August 15, 1949 in Manning, IA, she was the daughter of Harold and Wanda (Taggart) Hart. Kathie grew up in Coon Rapids where she attended Coon Rapids High School. She was married to Joe Anthofer on August 21,1965 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. The couple made their home in Coon Rapids where they raised their four children. Kathie was a homemaker and worked at the Aztec Restaurant, the Coon Rapids Golf Course, and was a caregiver for Harris and Marjorie Hess and several families in Coon Rapids. Joe and Kathie divorced in 1973. Kathie enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, writing poetry and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathie is survived by a daughter Sandi Jo (Jesse) Cook of Coon Rapids; three sons: Randal Joe, (Paula) Anthofer of Glidden, Robby Joe Anthofer of Coon Rapids, and Ricky Joe (Deb) Anthofer of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren: Hailey Cook, Lindsay (Clint) Gelhing, Lauren Anthofer (Josh Brauckman), Blake Joseph Anthofer (Haley Wilson), Kalie Jo Anthofer (Billy Behle), Michael Jackson, April (Johnnie) Jackson, and Nicole Jackson; and three great grandchildren: Addyson, Janeice, and Anthony. Kathie was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and friend Joe Anthofer in 1996, and her aunt and uncle Harold and Edna Hague. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids with Chaplain Peg Scheidt officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A reception and time to share memories will be held at the Coon Rapids American Legion following the service.
