Julie Rae Wurr-Ayers, age 52, of Des Moines and formerly of Coon Rapids passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Fr. John Gerald as Celebrant assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Lector for the Mass will be Jerry Kult. Eucharistic minister will be Kay Anthofer. Gift bearers will be Jaimie Wurr and Sheila Wurr. Casket bearers will be Dillon Wurr, Nate Lowe, Paul Galloway, Rodney Tucker, Tom Bogenski, and Doug Richards. Honorary casket bearers will be her classmates from the class of 1983. Music for the Mass will be by the Annunciation Choir with Paige Huntley as organist. Burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Friends may call at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids after 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will resume at the church at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday until the time of Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhhouse.com Born on June 2, 1965 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Dennis and Sandra (Stangl) Wurr. She grew up in Coon Rapids where she graduated from high school in 1983. She attended AIB in Des Moines before pursuing a career in sales. She was married to Michael Ayers on August 17, 1991. To this union were born two children Chase and Michaela and Julie gained a step-daughter Ashley. The family made their home near Woodward and Julie was employed by State Beauty Supply for several years and has most recently worked for Capital City Motor Company. Julie had a very outgoing and vivacious personality. She loved to organize parties and her class reunions. She enjoyed going to the lake and boating with her family and friends. Julie’s passion was socializing with people and there was never a stranger wherever she went. Julie is survived by her children: Chase Ayers (Morgan Veld) of Ankeny and Michaela Henriksen (Tim) of Orange City, IA; her parents Dennis and Sandra Wurr of Coon Rapids; a step-daughter Ashley Ayers (Dan Annear) of Perry; a brother Jaimie Wurr (Doris) of Bayard; a sister Sheila Wurr of Coon Rapids; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Julie was preceded in death by her grandparents and her brother Michael Wurr in 2014.
