Juanita Grace (Middleton) O’Tool, age 89, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on January 12, 2022.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating. Casket bearers will be Chad Leighty, Jim Schwaller, Glen Knight, Rich Baker, Josh Smouse, and Bryan Mowrer. Burial will be in the Moffitt Grove Cemetery near Guthrie Center.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday. The casket will be moved to the First United Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Juanita was born on January 8, 1933, to Benton and Hazel (Carpenter) Evans on her family’s farm southeast of Redfield, IA. She graduated from Redfield HS in 1950. On March 23, 1951, she was united in marriage to Derald Middleton. Six children were born to this union. She was an active member of various Methodist Churches since a teen and began a lifelong journey with her Lord. She taught Sunday School for over 25 years, mentored youth and helped with VBS. She served at many levels and positions of UMW. She was a board member for Bidwell Riverside, Coon Rapids Library and various church boards. She volunteered in band parents, Boy and Girl Scouts, McCurdy School in New Mexico, Republican Women and American Cancer Society. She was also active in many other church and civic organizations including PEO, Red Hats, TTT and book club. She was bookkeeper/secretary for Derald’s businesses. They were active in Lay Witness Missions and opened their home to various travelers. She was proud to earn a 4.0 at classes at A.I.B. She was an active Certified Lay Speaker. She married Rev. Duane O’Tool in October 1992. She enjoyed reading, crafts and growing plants and flowers. Her children and grandchildren were a joy to her as was sharing her faith to all.
Juanita is survived by her children Rita (Dennis) Stofer, Roger (Jeanne) Middleton, Rhonda Wall and Ryan Middleton; grandchildren Tyler (Mackenzie) Middleton, Michael (Simonne) Stofer and Randa Wall; great-grands Naomi and Eliza Stofer; step-grands Ronnie (Carrie) Worley and Nicholas (Mayra) Worley and their children and grandchildren; step-children Margo (Tom) Wald, Mark (Angie) O’Tool, Marlene (David) Doolittle and Marlyn O’Tool and their many children and grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, still-born daughter Vicki in 1953, husband Derald in 1991, son-in-law Randy Wall in 2004, son Rick in 2020, husband Duane in 2021.
