Joyce Marie Tapps

Joyce Marie (Armstrong) Tapps, age 87, of Carroll passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating.  Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin.   Casket bearers will be Joyce’s grandchildren.  Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery near Lidderdale.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday evening where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M.  The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on August 6, 1932 on her family’s farm near Lidderdale, IA, in Sheridan Township, she was the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Dewey) Armstorng.  Joyce attended country school as a girl and graduated from Lake City High School in 1950.  Following high school, she worked for Ocoma Foods in Carroll.  Joyce was married to Norman Tapps on June 20, 1954 at the United Methodist Church in Lanesboro.  They made their home in Carroll and she was a homemaker and did daycare in her home.  Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Joyce is survived by her husband Norman of Carroll; a son Roger Tapps (Shelly) of Carroll; two daughters Kathi Gordon (Steve) of Phoenix, AZ, and Tabby Tapps of Carroll; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren: a brother Darwin Armstrong (Kathy) of Pewaukee, WI; a sister Mavis Junkman of Rockwell City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Bertha Armstrong; her mother and father-in-law Leonel and Martha Tapps; a brother Larry Armstrong; a sister Shirley Willenborg; and a great-grandson Noah.
