Joyce Gruber

Joyce Ann Gruber, age 75, of Scranton, Iowa, passed away at The New Homestead Care Center in Guthrie Center, Iowa, on November 9, 2011. Mass of the Christian Burial Will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday November 15, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Scranton with Father Hoffman as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Church after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. by the parish. Visitation will resume at the Church at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday until time of the Mass. Interment will be in the Coon Rapids Cemetery. Gift Bearers will be Gary Gruber Hoyt, Mark Gruber, and Molly Gruber. Organist will be Mr. Richard Carey. Casket bearers will be Mike Hoehne, Dustan Squires, Paul Renwanz, RyanPaulsen, Austin Forkner, and Dallas Forkner. Born on January 3, 1936 at Coon Rapids, Iowa, she was the daughter of Lester and Elizabeth Tuel. Joyce was married to Wilfred Gruber on September 9, 1963 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. As a young girl she attended Coon Rapids schools and graduated from Coon Rapids high school in 1954. While living in Scranton she attended St. Paul Catholic Church. She had been an employee of the Bayard Care Center in Bayard from 1979 to 1993. She had lived in Ralston for several years moving to Scranton in 1996. Surviving are four sons: Gary Gruber Hoyt and his wife Linda of Scranton, Mark Gruber of Dedham, Martin Gruber of Fahaheel, Al Kuwait, and Tom Gruber and his wife Cari of Guthrie Center; a daughter Molly Gruber of Scranton; a sister Barbara Hoehne and her husband Virgil of Panora; three grandchildren: Shelby Gruber, Taylor Gruber, and Emily Gruber; a nephew Michael Hoehne and his wife Mindy; a niece Christie Henley and her husband Robert; a great niece Cassidy Hoehne; and a great nephew Branden Henley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1984, a son Tim in 1993, two brothers, and a sister-in-law Loretta DeLarosse.
