Jon Allan Park, age 54, of Scranton passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jefferson with Fr. Jeff Schleisman as celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Lector for the Mass will be Tom Wittrock. Gift bearers will be Jon’s sisters: Terri, Kathy, Trish, and Jan. Music for the Mass will be by Lois Last as pianist and Greg Carey as cantor. Eucharistic Minister will be Ruth Naberhaus. Casket bearers will be Jeff Ford, Terry Eslick, Alex Gettler, Cody Renwanz, Seth Johnson and Tony Park. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on June 6, 1960 in Carroll, he was the son of Robert and Carol (West) Park. He grew up in Scranton and graduated from Scranton Consolidated Schools in 1979. Following high school he worked for McLaughlin Farms. Jon was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in his early 20’s which kept him from many activities. Over the years he lived in various locations before moving back to Scranton in 2010. Jon was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church while growing up in Scranton. He moved to Regency Park in Jefferson in 2014. He enjoyed playing cards, watching television, and being with family and friends. Jon was an avid Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Jon is survived by his mother Carol Park of Scranton; four sisters: Terri Renwanz and her husband Bill of Jefferson, Kathy Geuss and her husband Eric of Annapolis, MD, Trish Monthei of Panora, and Jan Kirschman and her husband Rick of Ankeny; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his caregivers and friends at Regency Park in Jefferson. Jon was preceded in death by his father Robert Park in 1988, three brothers: Steve, Mike, and Andy, two sisters: Julie Park and Mary Jo Halterman, and a nephew Nick Halterman.
