Jon Mitchell Bushman

Jon Mitchell Bushman, age 48, of Scranton, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton.  Casket bearers will be Andy Stewart, Charles Gunn Jr., Dustin Bushman, Chanze Bushman, Jeremy DeVoogd, and Vinny Ratliff.  Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday.  Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Jon was born on March 31, 1977 in Boone, IA, and he was the son of Lynn and Christie (Byerly) Bushman.  He grew up in Rippey, IA, and graduated from East Greene High School in Grand Junction in 1996.  Jon was united in marriage to Juliann DeVoogd on January 24, 1997.  The couple made their home in Rippey until moving to Scranton in 1999.  Jon worked at the Boxholm, Woodward, and Rippey Grain Cooperatives over the years and most recently for New Way Trucks in Scranton.  He enjoyed camping, canoeing, fishing, riding snow mobiles, watching his favorite shows on tv, and spending time with his grandkids.

Jon is survived by his wife Juliann of Scranton; a daughter Laryssa Bushman of Scranton; two sons: Dustin Bushman of Scranton and Chanze Bushman (Samantha) of Dedham; five grandchildren: Brynlee, Aaron, Brexley, Prezley, and Lucca; his mother Christie Byerly of Scranton; a brother Tony Bushman of Gilbert; a sister-in-law Janna Moyer of Boone; a brother-in-law Jeremy DeVoogd (Maddie) of Ogden; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Jon was preceded in death by his father Lynn Bushman; his grandparents: Clarence and Helen Bushman and Lois Shamrock.
