Jolene Marie Stoelk, age 70, of Westside, IA, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, IA, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Andrew Noble officiating. Music will be byTammi Brunner and Ann Whitaker. Casket bearers will be her nephews: Kurt Miller, Ryan Miller, Troy Stoelk, Marty Stoelk, Aaron Schwanz and Danny Petersen. Honorary casket bearers will be the Zion Lutheran Ladies Aide Circle, Diane Berger, Linda Berger and Jolene Berger. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery in Westside.
Visitation will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Visitation will resume at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until 10:15 A.M prior to the service.

Jolene was born on November 23, 1955 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll and was the daughter of Vertis Emil Albert and Marion L. (Breidert) Petersen. Jolene was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. She attended Carroll Community Schools and was on the 1973 State Volleyball Champion team and graduated with the Class of 1974.
On March 2, 1974 she was united in marriage to Mark Stoelk at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. They were blessed with three children, Randy, Kim and Rachel. She was employed at Denny’s in Westside before working at K-Mart in Carroll until it closed. Jolene raised broilers with her mother-in-law for several years. She then worked for Home Care in Denison and the Denison Bulletin Review in Denison for a few years. She then was employed at Arcadia Limestone as a dispatcher for several years until her retirement in November of 2025.
Jolene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia where she was involved in the Ladies Aide for several years and sang in the church choir. She also sang with the Carroll Community Christmas Cantata. She enjoyed traveling with Mark in Germany, California and Salt Lake City, Utah being some of her favorite places to visit. She also enjoyed sewing where she made several dresses and baking, winning several awards throughout her years. Jolene had a passion for flowers and loved spending time tending to her large flower garden. But most of all she cherished the time spent with family.
Jolene is preceded in death by her daughter Rachel Stoelk; her parents; her parents-in-law Lawrence and Margarette Stoelk; son-in-law Ron Cleveland, Jr.; infant brother David Petersen; sister Barb Loneman; brother Duane Petersen; sister-in-law Carol Rae Miller; brothers-in-law, Larry Stoelk and Greg Stoelk.
Jolene is survived by her husband Mark Stoelk of Westside; son Randy Stoelk (Lisa) of Westside; daughter Kim Cleveland of Westside; grandchildren: Garrett Cleveland (Lex) of Ankeny, Kalon Cleveland of Ankeny, Kyelar Cleveland of Ankeny, Jax Cleveland of Westside; Tyler Stoelk of Breda, Kate Stoelk, Mallory Stoelk, and Will Stoelk all of Westside; step-grandchildren: Chance Cleveland (Breely) of Carroll and their son Micah, Eli Cleveland and special friend Abby Danner of Carroll; brother Dale Petersen of Vail; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ken Loneman of Altoona; Ewing Miller of Clinton, Carol Lynn Stoelk of Carroll, Carletta Brown of Lake View, and Carman Schwanz (Eugene) of Wall Lake; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
