John Lee Shriver, age 35, of Jefferson and formerly of Carroll passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Gift Bearers will be Julie Werkmeister and Carol Roeder. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery north of Lidderdale. Casket bearers will be Randy Grossman, Dan Kanne, Alex Werkmeister, Sheldon Thompson, Scott Kelly, Eldon Thompson and Nathan Thompson. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will resume at Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday until the time of Mass. John grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 2000. John worked at Swan Lake following high school and later started a lawn care service. He moved to Jefferson in March of 2015 where he was employed by Hy-Vee. John was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, riding his bicycle, and jig saw puzzles. John is survived by his mother Deb Shriver of Westside, a sister Deana Shriver of Jefferson; a brother Joe Shriver (Lindsey) of Coon Rapids; his grandfather Marvin “Red” Shriver of Jefferson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Walt and Rosemary Greteman, his paternal grandmother Iva (Shriver-Johnson) Zwicky, and father David Shriver in 1998.
