John Edwin Sheer

John Edwin Sheer, age 73, of Bayard, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Highland Township Cemetery near Bayard, IA, with Rev. Karen Patrick officiating.

John was born on January 30, 1948 in Carroll, IA, and he was the son of Edwin and Phyllis (Nelson) Sheer.  He grew up in the Exira area where he attended school.  John was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Vietnam era.  John was married to Diana Kinnick White on January 25, 1984 in Bayard.  To this union he was joined by two step-sons Gregory “Rambo” White and Christopher “Chris” White.  He had a daughter Jennifer Lloyd and her child Hunter Lloyd.  John and Diana later had a son Justin “JJ” John Sheer.  A family friend Albert “Bert” Allen who was just like a son.  During his working years, he worked for Bielenberg farms as a farm laborer and Hyline International in Dallas Center, IA.

John is survived by his wife Diana of Bayard; daughter Jennifer Lloyd of Bayard and her son Hunter; son Justin “JJ” Sheer of Bayard; son Chris White of Bayard; a brother Wayne Sheer of Davenport; two sisters-in-law Janet Sheer of Kempner, TX and Debbie Smouse of Carroll; a brother-in-law Robert Kinnick of Grand Junction; like a son Albert “Bert” Allen of Bayard; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Edwin and Phyllis Mae Sheer; his father and mother-in-law Lyle and Marie Kinnick; a son Gregory White; three brothers: Merlin, Wendell, and Richard Sheer; and a brother-in-law Allen Kinnick.
