John Fitzgerald Loeffler, age 49, of Scranton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton with Fr. Donald Ries as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton after 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. by the parish. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery Born on December 7, 1963 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Leo and Dorothy (Caywood) Loeffler. John was a lifelong resident of the Scranton area. His family lived on a farm north of Ralston until he was ten years old and then moved into Scranton. John graduated from Scranton High School in 1982. He attended Iowa Central Community College. He worked with his brother for many years at Ron’s Auto Parts in Scranton until 2006 when he went to work for Scranton Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, following NASCAR, and spending quality time with his many good friends. Surviving are his brother Ronald Loeffler and his wife Connie of Scranton; a niece Kathryn Owen her husband Chad of Scranton; a nephew James Loeffler and his wife Tricia of Boone; his great nieces and nephews: Macy, Maggy, and Cylas John Owen, and Leo, Kasen, and Asher Loeffler; and many cousins. John was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, and a brother Robert Loeffler. .
