John “Jack” Leo Irlbeck Sr., age 84, of Coon Rapids passed on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at his home in Coon Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Music for the service will be by Lula Garnes and Cindy Seastrom. Military Honors will be given at the Church by the Coon Rapids American Legion. Burial will be in the Orange Township Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on August 29, 1932 on his family’s farm near Templeton, he was the son of Alfonse and Margaret (Underberg) Irlbeck. Jack, as he was known to most, grew up on the farm and was drafted into the military to serve during the Korean Conflict. On March 20, 1976 Jack was married to Barb Kirkdorffer in Vermillion, SD at the farm house of a friend. They very much enjoyed their 4:00 p.m. car rides to meet up with friends. He was employed by the Garst Company for over 20 years, he also worked for the Coon Bowl, Coon Rapids Golf Course, and Lloyd Repair. Jack enjoyed gardening, playing cards at the nursing home, and working on cars. Jack is survived by his children: John Irlbeck Jr. (Edith) of Audubon, Jean Marie Irlbeck (Kyle Lemke) of Audubon and Daniel Irlbeck (Melissa) of Casey; Debra Sisson (Phil) of Grundy Center; Renee' McClellan (special friend Jay Howie) of Eldora, Robin Luiken (the late Mike Luiken) of Steamboat Rock, Lesa Stork (Dan) of Coon Rapids; Nathan Kirkdorffer (Tawnya) of Webster City; 31 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; eight brothers: Sonny Irlbeck (Helen) of Templeton, Jerome Irlbeck of Manning, Raymond Irlbeck (Marian) of Manning, Jim Irlbeck (Pat) of Manning, LeRoy Irlbeck (Elaine) of Manning, Tom Irlbeck (Dawn) of Aspinwall, Fred Irlbeck (Karen) of Aspinwall, Eugene Irlbeck (Mary Jo) of Carroll several cousins, other relatives, and many friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barb in 2015, a sister Mary Ann Irlmeier, a sister Mary Helen in infancy, a grandson Casey Stork.
