Jo Ann Margaret Robertson, age 88, of Carroll passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. A scripture reading will be give by Sam Cretsinger of Coon Rapids. Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin. Casket bearers will be Michael Robertson, Jeff Culbertson, Phil Culbertson, Dean Robertson, Mike Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, Matt Thompson and Joe Thompson. An honor guard will be formed at the church by the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and the Signet Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday at Orange Township Cemetery south of Coon Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorial fund has been established for New Hope Village. Born on December 22, 1925 on her family’s farm near Coon Rapids, Jo Ann was the daughter of Joe and Mabel (Cretsinger) King. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School and then attended the Iowa Beauty School. Jo Ann was married to Don Robertson on February 3, 1944 at the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. The couple made their home in Carroll and Jo Ann worked as a beauty operator, florist, and in retail sales. She volunteered at New Hope Village and she was a member of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll and the Signet Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jo Ann is survived by two sons: Chris Robertson and his wife Nancy of Omaha and Brett Robertson of New Hope Village in Carroll; two grandchildren: Raechel Carman and her husband Shawn of Denver, CO and Michael Robertson and his fiancé Molly Haynes of Kansas City, MO; two step-grandchildren: Katie Wilson and her husband Jade of Omaha and Matt Reily and his wife Kim of Jackson, WY; five great grandchildren; a sister Mary Jane Culbertson of Missouri and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don in 1995, a sister Nellie Thompson and a son Danny in infancy.
