Jimmy Dean Boyd, age 61, of Carroll passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines with his children at his bedside.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Fr. Shinoj Jose as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Jane Heithoff as organist. Lector for the Mass will be Journey Dirks. Gift bearers will Halie Boyd and Elizabeth Miller. Casket bearers will be Matt Boyd, Mike Boyd, Nathan Miller, Ruben Griesman, Noah Snyder, and Maverick Gregory. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 12:00 P.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 12:45 P.M. Born on October 2, 1958 in Jefferson, IA, he was the son of Jerald and Beatrice (Roberts) Boyd. He grew up in Scranton where he graduated from high school in 1977. Following high school, he began working at New Hope Village in Carroll in the transportation department. His career with New Hope spanned over 40 years and he eventually became the Director of Community Living Services. He was married to Michelle Jacobs on June 28, 1991 in Carroll, and to this union two children were born: Halie and Ethan. Jim and Michelle raised their family in Carroll and later divorced. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, socializing on Facebook, and spending time with his family especially his kids. Jimmy truly cherished his friendship with his buddy Tom Stewart.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter Halie Boyd (Ruben Griesman and his children Natalie and Josie) of Carroll; his son Ethan Boyd of Carroll; a grandson Aidan Devling; his sister Patricia Johnson (Gary) of Ames; his brother Jerry Boyd (Cindy) of Scranton; his brother-in-law John Wolterman of Carroll; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Jerald and Beatrice Boyd and his sister Delores Wolterman.
