Jimmie Daniel “Gunner” Colbert, age 81, of Coon Rapids passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Willow Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on July 9, 1936 near Scranton, IA, he was the son of Jess and Verna (Dillinger) Colbert. He grew up in the Bayard – Coon Rapids area. Jim attended country school as a boy and the Bayard High School. Following high school he drove truck for the Nielsen Brothers and later went to work for Steve Garst in his farming operation and Perry Pork Plant. Jim also farmed his own farm from 1968 – 2004. He was married to Gertrude Stottlemyre on August 29, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. The couple lived on an acreage north east of Coon Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and working. Jim and Trudy moved into Coon Rapids in 2010. Jim is survived by his wife Gertrude “Trudy” of Coon Raids; two step-daughters: Valerie Hasenyager of Kansas City, MO, and Diane Stottlemyre of Carroll; a step-son Douglas Stottlemyre of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Mary Bonney of Coon Rapids, a sister Janice Kraft of Bayard, a brother Jerry (Karen) Colbert of Coon Rapids, sister-in-law, Kay Colbert of Arcadia. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, parent- in- law Noble and Kathryn Long, a brother-in-law Ted Bonney, brother Jack Colbert, brother-in-law Eldon Kraft and son-in-law Charles Hasenyager.
