Lucille (Gehling) Jackley, age 92, of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Palm Gardens Nursing Home in Sun City Center, Florida. James W. Jackley, age 83, of Carroll passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009 at South Bay Hospital in Sun City Center, Florida. A Celebration of Lucille and Jim’s lives will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Rikki Sorensen of First Presbyterian Church in Carroll officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. A Masonic memorial service will follow the celebration of life service. Graveside services will follow at the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors conducted for Jim by the Carroll American Legion. Jackley was born on July 6, 1925 in Oskaloosa, IA, and was the son of William and Marie (Potts) Jackley. He grew up in Carroll and enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Nashville during World War II. Lucille was born on March 14, 1925 in Carroll, IA, Lucille was the daughter of Theodore and Catherine (Hoffman) Gehling. She grew up on her family’s farm south of Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School. Jim and Lucille were married on February 7, 1945 in Des Moines. While Jim served in the Navy, Lucille lived in San Diego, Philadelphia, and Carroll during his military service. Following Jim’s honorable discharge from the Navy, the couple made their home in Carroll where Jim worked for Iowa Public Service for 36 years and Lucille was a homemaker. Jim and Lucille had a daughter, June, and they raised two foster sons, Phil and Tom DenAdel. Lucille was a Girl Scout Leader and volunteered with the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and embroidery. But most of all, Lucille was a loving and devoted wife and mother always attending her children’s activities. Jim served on the Carroll Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, was a 60 year member of the American Legion and a Second-Degree Mason. Jim and Lucille are survived by their daughter June Marie Jackley of Sun City Center, FL; a son Phil DenAdel (Donna) of San Diego, CA; two granddaughters: Stacey Grimes (Daniel) and Jamey Driscoll (Daniel) both of Florida; great-grandchildren: Ashley Driscoll, Colin Driscoll, and Reagan Grimes all of Florida; Brendon Dahn, son of Phil DenAdel, and Andy, Paige, and Hailey DenAdel, children of Tom Den Adel; Lucille’s sister Frieda Barron of Niles, MI; Jim’s sister Billie Heinrichs; Lucille’s brother John Gehling (Marge) of Atlantic, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Catherine Gehling; three sisters: Marie Von Eschen, Anna Rath, and Helen Gray; and brothers: Frank, Vincent, Leo, and Leonard Gehling; a son Tom DenAdel; and her husband Jim Jackley. Jim was preceded in death by his parents William and Marie Jackley; his sister Joanna Ailes; and a son Tom DenAdel.
