Jessie Janet (Hight) Heck, age 94, of Coon Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids.
Born on August 8, 1913 at Norfolk, Nebraska she was the daughter of Leo and Lula (Russell) Hight. She grew up near Coleridge, Nebraska attending country schools. She was married to Harold Heck on September 19, 1936 at Coleridge, Nebraska. After marriage the couple moved to Colorado where they lived for seven years and then moved to Iowa. They farmed until retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her biggest hobby was crocheting and in her younger years gardening and raising chickens. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids.
Surviving are a daughter Donna Hein and her husband Junior of Glidden; a son Russell Heck and his wife Kay of Coon Rapids; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; four brothers: Russell Hight and his wife Rowena of Gering, Nebraska, Myrl Hight and his wife Sylvia of Schleswig, Iowa, Neil Hight and his wife Betty of Scranton, Elton Hight and his wife Miriam of Lake City; three sisters: Vera Anderson of Nixa, Missouri, Evolyn Rathgeber of Coleridge, Nebraska, and Darie Heck of Littleton, Colorado; and a brother-in-law Merlin Heck and his wife Darlene of Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents Leo and Lula Hight, her parents-in-law Henry and Ida Heck, a brother Roy Hight, two sisters: Edna Milligan and Leola Erickson, sisters-in-law Hilda Crane and her husband Don, Lucille Seyl and her husband Vic, and Betty Heck, a brother-in-law Clarence Heck, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 2, 2008 with Rev. Stephanie Simmons officiating. Visitation will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church from 4 – 8 P.M. on Friday. Organist for the service will be Caroline Flookes. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Lidderdale.
