Jerry Lee Wright

Jerry Lee Wright, 89 of Independence Missouri, formerly of Mesa Arizona, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 of natural causes.

A private family graveside service for Jerry will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the family's private cemetery in Scranton, IA.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that donations be sent to; Villages at Jackson Creek care of Donations on behalf of Jerry Wright 3980 S Jackson Dr Independence, MO 64057.

Jerry was born on February 6, 1934 to John and Clara (Mull) Wright at home in Jefferson, IA. Jerry graduated from Scranton High School in 1952. In 1953, Jerry met his wife, Katherine (Kathy) Virginia Houston at a skating rink in Jefferson, IA. They were married on June 14, 1953, in Scranton, IA. Jerry and Katherine went on to have 7 children: Victoria, Robert, Luann, Penny, Julie, Cindy and Jeff. Jerry was a man of all trades holding a range of different jobs from farming, working for a dry cleaner, owned his own machine shop, Air Research in Arizona, Navapache Electric Company as a Lineman in Pinetop-Lakeside Arizona, and a minister for the Church of Christ in several churches across the country. Jerry decided to retire in 2007 to care for his wife Katherine, who had fallen ill.

Jerry is survived his children Victoria (John) Whipple of Independence, MO, Luann (Paul) Neill of Melba, ID, Penny (Larry) McKinney of Acworth, GA Cindy (Ron) Clark of Joplin, MO and Jeff Wright of Mesa, AZ; by his sisters, Betty (Bruce) McLaughlin, Peggy (Darwin) Carrick, and Joan (Don) Schilling, his brother Darwin (Theresa) .

To honor the legacy of Jerry and Kathy here is a list of the grandchildren and great grandchildren; Victoria: Jenny (Tom) Sharp and their sons Sam and Seth Sharp Robert: children Elise and Kenny Wright Luann: Brian (Virginia)Buckles and their daughter Virginia Nichole. Jessica (Christopher) Simpson and her children Devan, Jasmine and Trent Anderson. Stacey (Craig) Conklin and their children Anastacia, Ashleigh, Alice Conklin. Carrie (Daniel) Laws and their children Abagail Nick, Kit and Noah Laws. Penny: Kristy McKinney, Wendy (Dennis) Taylor and their children, Seth and Addison Rawson, Salem and McKaelin Taylor. Julie: Sarah (Jared) Sterns and her children, Katherine, Jenny, DeSean and Steven (Kaylee) Bender and their son Wayne. Joseph (Margaret) Bender and his children Elizabeth, Owen and Eve Bender, Robert, Andrew and Jasmine Singley, JJ Masterson. Cindy: Zane Clark Jeff: Justin (Victoria) Wright, and Trevor Wright.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents John and Clara, his sister Joyce (Don) Lass, his brothers Verl (Virlee), Doyle (Grace) and Earl (Marileen), and 2 of his children Robert and Julie (Wayne) Bender.
