Gerald “Jerry” Moberg, age 72, of Carroll passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Rick Hamilton of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday until the time of service. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Carroll American Legion. Born on April 5, 1943, he was the son of Edwin and Fern (Hoopingarner) Moberg. He grew up in Lake City and attended Lake City High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 and served three years. He was married to Lois “Jo” Kurth on July 2, 1960 at the Glidden United Methodist Church. Jerry and Jo lived in Hawaii and Oklahoma while he served in the military and then moved back to Glidden in 1963. He worked for several companies as a truck driver and later bought his own truck and operated Moberg Trucking. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden and the Carroll American Legion. Jerry enjoyed camping and taking the camper to Texas in the winters. Jerry and Jo have served as the campground hosts for the past eight years at Swan Lake.
Jerry is survived by his wife Lois “Jo” Moberg of 55 years of Carroll; two sons: Marty Moberg of Carroll and Tom Moberg of Acton, MA; three grandchildren: Josh Lampe and his wife Ferrerma of Carroll, Patience Moberg of Acton, MA, and Wyatt Moberg of Acton, MA; a great grandson Carter Lampe of Carroll; a brother Kenny Moberg and his wife Donna of Ft. Dodge; a sister Patty Schmitz and her husband Phil of Rockwell City; a brother-in-law Bill Kurth and his wife Judy of Marengo, IL; a sister-in-law Dorothy Strabala and her husband Jim of North Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a baby in infancy in 1962, a sister Peggy Moberg, a brother Charles Moberg, and a granddaughter Ashley Mohr.
