Jerald Leroy Bennett

Jerald LeRoy Bennett, age 78, of Glidden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday,  January 10, 2024 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Rev. Angelo Luis officiating and military honors by the Glidden American Legion. Burial will be at the Dillavou Cemetery near Scranton.

Jerald was born on March 29, 1945, in Scranton, Iowa, and was the son of LeRoy and Alma (Morris) Bennett. He grew up in Scranton and graduated from Scranton High School.  Following high school, Jerald served in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968.  Jerry is known for his jovial nature, was quite a character, always making jokes and bringing laughter to those around him. He had a passion for driving his Rig cross-country and enjoyed the freedom of the open road. In addition to his military service and career as a truck driver, Jerry cherished his personal and family relationships.

Jerald is survived by his mother, Alma June Bennett, his brother Steve Bennett, his sister Nancy Bonnichson, his daughter Adonna Newman, his grandsons Michael Bennett and Nathan Doty and granddaughter Bobbie Newman, great-grandson Josh Bennett and great-granddaughters Archadia and Aurelia Carrol. Jerald is also survived by his nephew Tony Bennett and nieces Blair Spots and Brook Richardson as well as two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Jerald was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Bennett, his son Dennis Bennett, and his wife Sandra Bennett.
