Jeffrey “Spike” Becker, age 57, of Carroll passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by his family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Father Kevin Richter as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Marueen Becker. Gift bearers will be Stephanie Becker and Loa Becker. Eucharistic ministers will be Gary Becker and Rick and Marilyn Hoffman. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist. Casket bearers will be Tom Snyder, Mike Schultz, Rob Thelen, Joshua Shirk, Bryan Bevis, Robb Bevis, Nick Gorden, and Bill Becker. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:45 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Spike’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on March 4, 1960 in Carroll, IA, he was the son of William G. and Mary Lou (Headlee) Becker. Spike, as he was affectionately known to most, was a lifelong resident of Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1978. Spike worked for B & H Super Value during high school and for Jerry’s Standard after he graduated. He began working for Carroll Auto Salvage in 1980 as a “Salvage Technician” and retired in 2015. Spike was married to Jackie Cox on June 1, 1985 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. Spike enjoyed anything to do with cars and was a “Master Rebuilder of Cars”. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes and three wheelers. Spike was a collector of Batman memorabilia, toy cars and Hot Wheels, and pop bottles and beer cans. He loved rock and roll music and spending time with the love of his life Jackie and their son Ben. Spike loved life and had friends wherever he went. Spike is survived by his wife Jackie of 32 years of Carroll; his son Ben of Carroll; his mother Mary Lou Becker of Fonda; his mother-in-law Mary Cox of Cedar Falls, IA; a sister-in-law Cindy Becker of Carroll; a sister-in-law Kathy Bevis (Robb) of Prior Lake, MN; a brother-in-law Ken Cox of Cedar Falls, IA; a brother-in-law John Cox of Waterloo, IA; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family members and many many good friends. Spike was preceded in death his father William Becker 2012; his brother Randy Becker in 1983, his brother Bill Becker in 2011; and his father-in-law Bud Cox in 2010.
